Sorry but NIKOLA Tesla didn't failed to make an experiment of wireless electricity transmission. He has already invented TESLA COIL which transmits wireless electricity in 1891 AD.

But his business partners didn't supported him as well as other people like Thomas Alva Edison and Edison was doing bad publicity of AC current which was also discovered by TESLA. And due to Nervous Break down he died and his project was never completed . (╯︵╰,)
