Just after six months of our marriage my In-laws wanted to visit Bangalore.
We were getting ready to welcome them. They are coming from my BIL's house and it's a five hour journey by bus.
The plan is that my husband will go to receive them in the Main KSRTC Bus Stand (popularly known as Majestic) and I will stay back home and prepare lunch for them.
My MIL is a good lady but if she gets angry she will become like Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) Lion.
On the day of their arrival, my husband got some sudden work. So, he told me to go to Bus Stand to receive them in the last minute.
I was in the midway, cooking lunch for them. As I had to go to the Bus Stand, I requested my friend to complete the cooking and left for Bus Stand.
I was new to Bangalore. I wasn't familiar with the local language, Kannada nor I knew the bus routes to reach the KSRTC Bus Stand at Majestic. The only local friend I knew in Bangalore, was helping me complete the cooking…
Being not used to BTC or City buses, I hired an autorickshaw and reached by 1 O’ Clock. The bus was expected to reach by 1.30 pm. I thought sufficient time was there and was happy to reach there before time.
I enquired at the help desk and waited at the Arrival point assigned for this bus. I waited for so long, many buses came and left, but no trace of my in laws.
It was already 3 O’clock. I thought they might have cancelled their visit. There were no Mobile phones then. When I enquired again in the help desk he checked and told the bus had already come in time and returned back to the Bus Depot.
As the bus arrives into KSRTC, many generally get down outside the Bus Stand to board autorickshaws or reach city bus stand or railway station which are in a walkable distance.
But as my In laws were informed their son (my husband) is coming to receive them, it is not likely they get down before the bus reaches it’s assigned parking bay.
Assuming they didn't come at all, I took an autorickshaw and went back home hungry around 4.30 pm. It didn't even strike to me, I should have had something to eat by then.
