The drafting committee was entrusted with the responsibility to prepare the Draft constitution. Drafting committee was set up on 29 August 1947 under the chairmanship of Dr. B R Ambedkar. The constituent assembly took 2 years , 11 months and 17 days to frame the Constitution.
The task of the drafting committee was to free India through a constitution, to feed the starving people and to give every Indian a fullest opportunity to develop himself/herself. Dr B. R. Ambedkar was the chairman of the drafting committee.
