Answer :

This question is based on the short story 'What Happened to the Reptiles' by Zai Whitaker.

When the tortoises left the forest, a strange smell of rot began to fill the entire forest as there was no one to eat the rotting food and the decaying bodies. After the snakes left, the rats multiplied rapidly as there was no one to eat them. They took over the entire forest and fed on the eggs of crocodiles and lizards so much so that there were no babies that year. After the lizards left the forest of Pambupatti, the rats grew even more fearless and bold. All kinds of awful and terrible things began to happen. The numbers of frogs increased as there was no one to eat them now. The frogs began to feed on the baby crocodiles. The forest got inhabited by millions of insects who grew in size and nastiness with each passing day. The crocodiles started having a terrible time.
