There is a intense conflict between Tamil and Sinhala in srilanka . Srilanka follows majority rule and Sinhala is the majority community since the government favoured the sinhalas the tamils felt neglected. Also in 1956 the government passed a act to recognise Sinhala as the official language which further made the situation worse . The government followed preferential policies that favoured Sinhala applications for university and government jobs and also they protected and promoted Buddhism which caused the civil war between the two .
