Helen Keller cherished the fond memories associated with Mr. William Endicott and his daughter. Their kindness to her was the reason behind these pleasant memories. She remembered the delight she felt while visiting their beautiful home at Beverly Farms. She remembered how she went through their rose garden, how their dogs, Leo and Fritz came to meet her, how Nimrod, the swiftest horse poked his nose into her hands. She also remembered the beach, where for the first time she played in the sand. Mr. Endicott would tell her about the great ships that came sailing from Boston. It was because of the love she received from him that made her call Boston 'The City of Kind Hearts.'
