The Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) was the name of the Ghanaian government, a military dictatorship that induced civilians to participate in governing the country. The economic objectives of the PNDC were to stabilize the economy and raise economic growth. It also bought changes in the people's attitude to a nation building. But there were many failures in the administration due to which it was short lived. The reasons/failures are as below-

1. Failed to improve the economy- The government failed in improving and stabilizing the economy. The living standards of people worsened. There were increase in the debts.

2. Corruption- There was corruption in the party itself. There were inequalities among the people which raised many issues inside and outside the party.

3. Failed to promote accountability- There was no accountability in the government as the chairmen and members were all included in the corrupt practices. They failed to promote equality which is a major component of the rule of law. Also they were unable to prove the people accountable if they did anything wrong.

4. Lack of transparency- There was lack of transparency in the public affairs. There was no code of ethics.

5. Lack of accessibility- The government was inaccessible to information which were treated as confidential which in turn affected the people and the government itself.

6. Authoritarian character- The government was not able to apply sanctions for the wrongs done. There were no constitutional protection for the people of the country.
