Five year plans: -

The First plan (1951-56) based on Harrod Domar Model gave priority to agriculture.Economist KN Raj was the architect of this plan.

The Second Plan ( 1956 - 61) also known as Nehru Mahalanobis Plan emphasised on thr development of basic and heavy industry.

The Third Plan (1961- 66) known as Gadgil Yojana aimed to be self - reliant and Self- generating economy.The plan failed to achieve its target due to Indo-China war (1962) and Indo -Pak war (1965).

The Fourth plan (1969-74) laid special emphasis on improving the condition of underprivileged and weaker sections.

The Fifth plan (1974-79) aimed at remobal of poverty and attainment of self- reliance.

➡ IN 1978 , Annual plan was brought out by Janata party Government under Morarji Desai.The focus of thr plan was enlargement of the employment potential in agriculture and allied activities.
