"Masands represent and officials of the Sikh Gurus. They were appointed to collect “the dasvandh” which means 'a tenth part of the income' for the development and establishment of Sikh religion.

The concept of dasvandh was started by the Sikh Gurus and soon, Masands system was abolished as the Masand became corrupt and they start telling themselves as Gurus.

Masands were collecting money for their personal interest and Guru Gobind Singh abolished the system due to their corrupt activities."
