The Diwani Rights refer to the rights given to someone to collect tax from that area.

The Company got these rights in 1765 by the Mughal Emperor.

Now the Company could freely trade without having to import gold and silver from Britain for trade.

This allowed them to minimize their expenditures and they could also spend the money got from revenue to expand their military power and increase fortification
