There are various  causes for the impoverishment of the farmers.
One of the main reason is the degradation of land and soil resulting in low quality of soil with low nutrient which ultimately result in low yield for the farmer and  that means the low earning.
Also the factors like pollution degrading the quality of soil, and the lack of use of quality seeds along with the high disease cost the farmers alot,
Moreover the less earning inspite of hard work may be the factor in this regard.
Additionally the increased population is also a factor.
