Reasons for the February Revolution, 1917
Tsar Nicholas II was a poor leader. Economic problems grew, made worse by Russia's disastrous involvement in World War One. Social unrest led to the February Revolution and his abdication.

Causes of February revolution :
- Shortage of food : There was a winter grim in Petrograd . All the rich got supplies but poor and commoners had to suffer .
- Discontentment among peasants and workers : Workers were made to work more hours and neither given enough wages nor breaks . So they started revolting against and started joining strikes.
- Inequality shown in stay : There were two parts of the city . One where the rich lived ; so called fashionable area with official buildings. Another was for workers and other sections. Workers weren't allowed to go to another part. During the strike ; when they entered over there ; government put up a curfew.
- Suspension of Duma : Dumas were the assembly that was of advisory function and worked for legislative council. Duma was suspended by the Tsar . People didn't like this and again they had to revolt.
- Police headquarters were ransacked
- Restrictions were put on public meetings .
- High power in provisional government.
- Tsar's abduction : When Tsar Nicholas II abducted ; the provincial and the Bolsheviks took this as an opportunity to grow their powers. So , it can also be a cause.
