As the population and economy of Britain grew, the demand for agricultural products blew up thus increasing the price of food grains. Under pressure, the government restricted the import of Corn into britain, therefore imposing the CORN LAWS. Unhappy with the rising food prices, industrialists and urban dwellers forced it's abolishment.
Because of this food prices fell to a bare minimum and imports could easily flow into the country now, with many unemployed.
