As per the lesson "Attitude is Altitude", Nick's parents helped him to become independent since young age. they left him in water bodies so that Nickmay learn to swim.
He was involved in a high school so that he becomes self dependent.
In this manner he slowly became self dependent that finally served to be a blessing in disguise.
