People regarded a boy as the sole bread earner of the family. it was believed that women couldn't handle jobs that required heavy technical or physical skills.Girls were thought to be weak and fragile.Their purpose was to only do the household chores and take care of the younger ones.

girls are restricted by their families to go to school..there are many reasons suxh as;
it was believed that if a girl is educated, then she will not take care of her family.

it continues since the medieval period.....
and even today in few parts of our india.
this is completely wrong and girls should be given equal rights ....
