States of matter are of three types- solids,liquids,gases.
SOLIDS are hard and have the high volume as the particles are stuffed in it leaving no space between the particles.the size and shape depends on the object.
LIQUIDS are not so hard and have the volume lower than solids as the particles have spaces between them.the shape depends on the container.
GASES are free and have no volume as the particles move freely in the matter.this has no size and shape.

Hope this helps.

Hi friend
____________________________________________________________
There are 5 states of matter
@ Solid
@ Liquid
@ Gas
@ plasma
@ Bose Einstein Condensate
___________________________________________________________
Solid- @its particles are very tightly packed
           @ the inter-molecular space in negligible
           @ the inter-molecular force of attraction is very high
           @definite shape and volume

Liquid @Its particles are loosely arranged
            @ The inter-molecular space is greater that solids
           @ the inter-molecular force of attraction is low than solids
           @indefinite shape and definite volume

Gases- @they are very loosely packed
             @The inter-molecular space is very large
             @The inter-molecular forces of attraction are very low
             @ indefinite shape and volume

Plasma- @ in this state the particles are highly excited and energetic
               @ they are highly heated at very high temperature

Bose Einstein Condensate - this state of matter is very confusing two scientist studies about it and Said it is the state of matter at extremely low temperature but no proper definition
