There were many reasons for the failure of revolt of 1857

1) The revolt lacked centralized leadership. There was no one to guide them. They elected Bahadur Shah Zafar as the leader of revolt but he was also an incompetent ruler.

2)The Indian army and rulers have less weapons and resources as compared to the British.

3) Every one involved this revolt had their own greed in fighting the war. There was no nationalist feelings among the rulers.
