As a general ideology, Conservatism is opposed to the ideals of Liberalism and Socialism. Conservatism generally refers to right-wing politics which advocate the preservation of personal wealth and private ownership (Capitalism) and emphasize self-reliance and Individualism.

1)  Conservatism is a form of political philosophy that stressed the importance of tradition, and had beliefs in institutions and customs. It preferred gradual development rather than immediate change

2)   Followers of this philosophy believed that traditional institutions like monarchy, Church, property etc should be preserved

3)  They were of the view that modernisation strengthen monarchy by creating efficient bureaucracy, dynamic economy, thereby destroying feudalism, and serfdom etc
