Hey There! The Zollverein was important in strengthening Prussia and developing nationalism among the German states. In 1818, a custom union was established by Prussia. It abolished all tariff barriers within Prussian territory. Zollverein were formed to manage tariffs and economic policies within their territories. Organized by the 1833 Zollverein treaties, the Zollverein formally started on 1 January 1834.
