Aurangzeb was the longest (49 years) reigning MUGHAL emperor among all the Mughal rulers. He was the most ambitious and expansionist and almost conquered the whole of Indian Subcontinent.

He was ruthless against the ruler in DECCAN and subdued the SULTANS in Bidar,Hyderabad etc with tenacity.

His running battles with Sivaji and the MARATHAS in the Deccan is legendary.

His POLICY was just to conquer DECCAN and the whole of south India under the MUGHAL EMPIRE.
