Rutherford observed that:
1-Most of the particles went straight thorough and only few particles were deflected by small angles
2-One out of every 12000 particles appeared to rebound
Rutherford concluded that:
1-Most of the alpha particles went straight through as the atoms were empty
2-Some of the alpha particles got deflected by 180 degree. This means that the protons and mass of the nucleus was concentrated in small area
3-Very few atoms were deflected that means that the charge of the atom occupies very little space
The drawbacks of Rutherford model was:
1-The elctrons revolve around the nucleus and lose enrgy and the electrons finally collapse into the nucleus of an atom. This mean that the atom was unstable but we know that the atoms are quite stable
