The main reasons for the Anglo Maratha Conflict between 1775-1818 are:

• After the death of Peshwa Madhav Rao, there was a huge interference of the British in the internal and external affairs of the Maratha Kingdom.

• After the defeat of Peshwa Baji Rao II by the Holkars, the Peshwa took help from the British and this was unexpected among other Maratha leaders and this was the cause for the 2nd Anglo-Maratha war.

• The main reasons for the third Anglo-Maratha war were the desire of Marathas to get back their territories from the British and the extreme control of British over Maratha chiefs and nobles.
