The two main types of system for indigo cultivation are nij cultivation and jhoom cultivation. The problem with nij cultivation was that the East India company snatched the lands from famers and they had no right to cultivate indigo in landlords field . there was also a problem,was that if once the indigo was cultivated in a field than after that the land become useless .
