Answer:

Conservatives wish to conserve. They believe in restricting progress to a slow and steady tempo in the name of tradition and caution. A car without brakes will careen out of control.

In this, I will speaking of the ideal American Conservative. I do not intend to speak of bigots and rednecks that inhabit the alt-right. None of my statements are intended as absolutes.

Conservatives often work to empower the states and employ a strict interpretation of the Constitution.

Conservatives may be Pro-Life, but might allow women the right to an abortion, though give individual states some say.

They usually like less restrictions on guns and the 2nd Amendment, so as to protect their loved ones against danger, whether it’s an intruder or a tyrannical government. However, I have seen many in Quora advocating “common sense gun laws.”

Also, conservatives almost always speak in favor of giving businesses more freedom, believing that the businesses’ actions regarding matters like employees’ wages and environmental preservation will be protected. However, these beliefs would not be protected because of government legislation, but because of the people pressuring the businesses.

Most support protectionism, which provides economic barriers on trade, which is intended to encourage domestic job growth. However, some laissez faire conservatives would support mostly free trade with a few barriers. The latter view is one of their views I agree with.

While some conservatives believe that we should just keep to ourselves, many think that we should have a strong military influence around the globe.

Similarly, conservatives advocate for strong national security, stronger borders, and less tolerance against recreational drugs. This is another stance I support.

They believe that we should both lower taxes and try to erase debts/deficits. This is probably their biggest.

Answer:

Conservatives believed in traditional and cultural values. They were the people who supported monarchy and nobility. They believed that privileges of the monarchy and nobility should exist. After the French Revolution, they contended that gradual changes should be brought in the society.
