Let FORCE,F =m.a

1. when new  mass is m'= 1/3 ;

the new force F' = (m/3) .a

                        3F' = ma

                         3F'= F

so the force gets tripled.

2. when new mass, m" = 2m

  the new force ,F" = (2m).a

                          F"/2 = m.a

                          F"/2 = F

so the force gets reduced by half.
