z² - 4z - 12
= z² - 6z + 2z - 12
= z(z - 6) + 2(z - 6)
= (z - 6) (z + 2)

The factors are (z - 6) and (z + 2)

Hope it helps

Given:

We have given the quadratic equation z^2-4z-12.

To FInd:

We have to find the factors of quadratic equation?

Step-by-step explanation:

  • We have the quadratic equation which is z^2-4z-12. we know it is quadratic equation because the degree of ther equation is 2.
  • We have to factorize the above equation
  • For factorzing the quadratic equation we will write the middle term as the sum of two term which is factor of constant term we will get

             z^2-4z-12\\z^2+6z-2z-12\\\

  • Now we will take the terms common from first two term and last two terms we will get

            z(z+6)-2(z+6)\\(z-2)(z+6)

Hence, the factor will be (z-2)(z+6)
