\textbf{\underline{Answer :}}

Question is -

Dushyant said, "Sir, I was sick so I could not complete my work."

(Turn into Indirect Speech)

Answer is -

Addressing sir, Dushyant said that he was sick so he could not complete his work.

Rule :

The given direct speech is in Simple Past Tense (both the reporting verb and reported verb). So in the indirect speech, reported verb will be in Simple Past tense also.

To change this type sentences into Indirect Speech where we see introductions like - sir, ma'am, dear or any name, we need to use "Addressing 'sir'" and then follows the transformation.

Heya !!

Here is your answer...

To change any sentence to indirect speech we need to follow few rules.

Now, in this sentence we will have two rules to change the sentence.

1. Change of "sir" with addressing word. Whenever a person is addressed we use "Addressing" before it.

2. The tense will be same as it is in the direct speech.

Answer ==>

Addressing sir, Dushyant said he could not complete his work because he was sick.

OR

Addressing sir, Dushyant said he was sick that's why couldn't complete his work.

Hope it helps..
