P1V1 = P2V2

0.8 × 0.5 L = 1L × P2

P2 = 0.4 bar

P1 V1= P2 V2

0.7 bar 2.0 = P2 × 1

P2 = 1.4 bar

Total pressure = 0.4 bar + 1.4 bar = 1.8 bar.

Answer:

(i) The partial pressure of hydrogen gas

P

=

V

PV

=

1

0.8×0.5

=0.40 bar

(ii) The partial pressure of oxygen gas

P

′′

=

V

PV

=

1

0.7×2.0

=1.40 bar

So, the total pressure of gaseous mixture is P+P

′′

=0.40+1.40=1.80 bar
