Given:

Poissons ratio = 0.25

To Find:

Relation between e (young modulus of elasticity) and bulk modulus k

Solution:

The relation between Young’s modulus and Bulk modulus is:

E = 3K(1 - 2ν) N/m2

where ν = poisson's ratio, K = bulk modulus & E = young modulus.

We know that ν = 0.25

Thus, the value of the equation will become,

E = 3K{1 - 2(0.25)} = 3K {1 - 0.5} = 3K(0.5) = 1.5K

⇒ 2E = 3K

Hence, the relation between Young’s modulus of Elasticity (E) and Bulk modulus (K) is 2E = 3K when Poissons ratio = 0.25.
