Given :

Initial velocity of bus = zero

Final velocity = 40m/s

Time interval = 120s

Distance covered = 500m

To Find :

Acceleration of the bus.

Solution :

★ Bus has constant acceleration throughout the motion hence we can easily apply equation of kinematics to solve this question.

Apply third equation of kinematics :

→ v² - u² = 2as

  • v denotes final velocity
  • u denotes initial velocity
  • a denotes acceleration
  • s denotes distance

→ 40² - 0² = 2a(500)

→ 1600 = 1000a

→ a = 1600/1000

a = 1.6 m/s²

Additional Information :

  • Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity.
  • It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.
  • SI unit : m/s²

Given :-

☄ Initial velocity of the bus , u = 0m/s

☄ Time taken, t = 120s

☄ Final velocity of the bus, v = 40m/s

☄ Distance covered, s = 500m

To Find :-

Acceleration of the bus.

Solution :-

as we are provided with initial Velocity (u), final velocity (v) distance (s) and time we can use equation of motion

so, using equation of motion .i.e.,

v² - u² = 2as

here,

v = final velocity, u = initial velocity, a= acceleration, s = distance and t = Time

by substituting all the given values

➠ 40² - 0² = (2)(a)(500)

➠ 1600 = 1000a

➠ a = 1600/1000

➠ a = 1.6 m/s²

thus, the acceleration of the bus is 1.6m/s².
