When we would start putting pressure and heat on a gas in a cylinder after some time the cylinder will burst as the heat will make the molecules move outwards and with the pressure in the cylinder the cylinder walls will burst. The increasing of heat and pressure can change the state of matter as one example is of melting and the other is when you take out all the air in a glass of water it will start to boil automatically.
