on the electro lysis of CuSO4 aq sol
CuSO4 will disassociate in Cu 2+ and SO4 2- ions
CuSO4->Cu 2+ +SO4 2-
impure copper is taken as anode(positive) and pure copper as cathode (negative) now this Cu 2+ will attracted towards the cathode
AT CATHODE
Cu 2+ + 2 electrons -> Cu
now this Cu will settle at cathode .
now the sol get deficient Cu 2+ ions now fron the positive end Cu get 2+ ions
AT ANODE
Cu + 2 protons -> Cu 2+
now Cu 2+ will move into the sol and again moves to cathode
after sometime anode end will get vanished

Answer:
Explanation:
(a, c) CuSO4 ⇋ Cu2+ + SO24-
H2O ⇋ H+ + OH-
At cathode,
Cu2+ + 2e- __> Cu2; Eocell = 0.34 V
H+ + e- __> H2; Eocell = 0.00 V
(i) reaction will take place due to higher reduction potential.
At anode,
2SO24- - 2e- __> SO28-; Eocell = 1.96 V
2H2O __> O2 + 4H+ 4e-; Eocell = 1.23 V
The reaction with lower value of Eo will be preferred at anode, hence O2 is released at anode.
