Just think of diffusion or osmosis...

though u mentioned that the apricot is dry so we can say it's water potential is lower than of pure water or simply water conc. in apricot is lower than outside i.e. pure water ...so when u place it in pure water ...water will rush from its higher conc. 2 low conc. to maintain equilibrium

in second case the medium i.e. sugar solution already has low water conc. so it depends upon the relative water conc. of medium n apricot...but according 2 me the water will rush inside the apricot again(if the apricot is totally or fully dried) becoz the sugar solution have definitely some water conc.

Hope 2 help u !!!

so if u liked plzz mark me brainliest...

Answer:

shrink

Explanation:

Due to the movement of water outside the cell, it shrinks up. Thus, when dry apricots are left for some time in pure water then they swell due to endosmosis, and later when they are transferred to the sugar solution, they shrink due to exosmosis.
