for a longer period of time.

 If freshly harvested grains (seeds) are stored without drying, they may get spoilt or attacked by

microorganisms, making them unfit for use or for germination.

 Dried neem leaves are used for storing grains at home which prevents microbial attack.

The grains should be properly dried in the sun to reduce the moisture in them. This prevents the attack of

microorganisms.

3. Farmers store grains in jute bags or metallic bins. However, large scale storage of grains is done in silos

and granaries to protect them from pests like rodents and insects.

In granaries:

Food grains should be stored in completely dry gunny bags. The bags should be kept in a place which is

In silos:

Chemical treatment is done before storing.
