hcl help to make pepsin which help in protein digestion . so if hcl is not present in stomach protein will not be digested .

conversion of pepsinogen in presence of PH below 1.8 into pepsin is not possible .
THIS IN TURN AFFECT DIGESTION OF PROTIENS IN STOMACH.
HCl is a disinfectant,IF IT IS ABSENT MEANS IT CAN LEAD TO FOOD POISONING AND ALSO ATTACKS FROM OTHER OTHER EXTERNAL MICROBES .
