if plant cell kept in sugar solution it will shrink due to Osmosis taking place. Osmosis is the passage of water from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration through a semi permeable membrane. if plant cell is kept in strengthful sugar solution it will shrink then only as it is losing water.
