both the cells will shrink because water moves from the cells to the salt solution

If a plant or animal cell is kept in highly concentrated salt solution, The cell will get smaller in size.
This size change occurs due to exosmosis which the plant/animal cell undergoes.
OSMOSIS
Osmosis is the process of movement of liquid(water) from a region of lower solute concentration to a region of higher solute. concentration.
The osmosis process takes place through a semi permeable membrane.
Now,
If a solution has a higher salt (solute) concentration, It (solution) will have a low water concentration.
Hence
This type of solution is known as HYPERTONIC SOLUTION in which the water concentration is low as compared to that of the cell. .
HYPER means to grow small in size.
Hence,
In a hypertonic solution the size of cell decreases.
Why??
This is because, in hypertonic solution, the water content from the cell starts to go out into the solution due to osmosis.
Since, the water is lost by the cell, the type of osmosis is called as exosmosis (ex means to go out).
Due to this water loss only, the cell grows smaller in size.
Hence
From the above given points we cam say that
Whenever a plant/animal cell is kept in a hypertonic solution (a solution where solutes are more in amount than the water content),
The cell will lose water from it to make the surrounding neutral that is isotonic.
So,
The size of the cell will reduce.

EXTRA KNOWLEDGE :-
1l In a hypotonic solution (a solution where water is more in amount than the cell) , the cell will grow big in size as the water from outside will enter the cell by the process of endosmosis.
2) In isotonic solution, the cell will remain as it is.
3) in hypertonic solution (a solution in which the water concentration of the cell is more as compared to that of the external solution), The size of the cell will decrease due to the movement of the water from the cell to the surrounding to make the surrounding solution isotonic.
