When RBC is kept in saline solution, it will shrink. As the concentration of saline solution is higher than the concentration inside the cell. Thus, water will move outside the cytoplasm and the cell will shrink.

Because of the difference in osmotic potential caused by the salt water solution, water will diffuse out of the red blood cells causing them to shrink in size.
