Answer:

Xylem tissues are responsible for transport of water molecule in a plant. So, if xylem tissues are destroyed, most likely the branch of the tree will not survive due to lack of water.

Answer:

Following the damage of the xylem tissue in the branch of a tree, the branch will stop getting water and minerals (cell sap) from the roots. So photosynthesis in the leaves of that branch will stop and they will produce no food. If this happens in a tertiary branch of the tree the effect is very minimal and the lack of food can be easily overcome.

However if the xylem of a primary branch gets affected a lot of the leaves are unable to make food. So parts of the tree will not get any food and die as a result.
