Increase in acidic or basic nature of soil:

  • The optimum growth of the plants occurs at around a pH of 6 to 6.5.
  • At higher levels of pH, soil builds up to toxic level of nutrients like Molybdenum and it becomes too poisonous to be taken up by the plants.
  • In addition to that, there is a certain level of pH in which the soil microflora also survives.
  • But, if the pH fluctuates it can be fatal to these soil microbes which at the end will affect the soil fertility.
