Covering the leaves with Vaseline will close the stomatal opening present on leaf epidermis. Stomata helps in gaseous exchange and water evaporation or loss from leaf surface . Hence two major process of plant survival will be affected, which are : (i) Transpiration ( loss of water from leaf surface ).

If vaseline is applied on the upper surface of the leaf, its stomatal pore will be blocked which is present in the epidermis.Stomatal pore helps in gaseous exchange,so the plant will no longer remain healthy. Two major process that Is transpiration and photosynthesis will be ceased.
