What will happen if we keep a fish in a closed container without any aquatic plants

If the container contain water then the fish would use the dissolved oxygen to survive. When it becomes oxygen deficient then it dies because of no oxygen source. Again the carbon dioxide amount increase in water that creates an environment of suffocation
