Let x units be the edge of the cube.

Case 1 :

New length = 2x

We know that,

Volume of cube = ( Edge )³

Substituting the values in the formula, we get

➱New volume = ( 2x )³ = 8x³ cu units

Therefore,

The number of times the volume is increased = 8x³/x³ = 8 times .

Case 2 :

New length = x/2

We know that,

Volume of cube = ( Edge )³

Substituting the values in the formula, we get

➪ New volume = ( x/2 )³ = x³/8 cu units

Therefore,

The number of times the volume is decreased = x³/8 /

= 1/8 times .

Case 3:

New length = 3x

We know that,

Volume of cube = ( Edge )³

Substituting the values in the formula, we get

➱ New volume = ( 3x )³ = 27 x³

Therefore,

The number of times the volume is increased = 27 x³/x³

= 27 times .
