In the 1st condition, the egg shrinks as water molecules from egg passes to concentrated solutions.i.e.,salt solution.this is exosmosis.
in the 2nd condition,the egg swells as water enters into the egg which is more concentrated than water.this is called endosmosis.

- Concentrated solution means hypertonic solution and when egg without shell is placed in it, it will shrink because the water molecules will move from the egg to the outside environment. This process is called exosmosis.

- When egg is placed in pure or distilled water, osmosis takes place. Osmosis is a phenomenon in which water molecules move from higher concentration to the lower concentration.
