What will happen when CO2 is passed through lime water ?

Answer: When CO2 is passed through lime water, it turns milky or turbid due to the formation of calcium carbonate which is insoluble in water. However if excess carbon di oxide is allowed to pass, the turbidity disappears due to the formation of calcium bicarbonate which is soluble in water.
