the process is called osmosis. Since the raisins have less amount of water inside it and more of the salt therfore in order to achieve equilibrium the water moves inside the raisin and the salt in the water

manu1121: i dont have asked about salt ... asking for plain water
manu1121: Plzz tell
manu1121: plzz tell
Yashflora97: yeah
manu1121: plz tell for plain water
Yashflora97: it is due to the process called osmosis. the raisin is made up of tiny living units called cells. Each cell is surrounded by a cell membrane. it keeps the cell parts inside and keep other things outside thus protecting the cell while this membrane stops most things water can pass through it
Yashflora97: and now if the sugar solution that is present in the raisin is in higher concentration than the lain water then it will.move from higher concentration to the lower concentration
Yashflora97: and similarly if the water content is less in the raisin than the outside then the water will move inside the cell to maintain the equilibrium
Yashflora97: hence the water enters the raisin and because the water enters the raisin swell up
