Cells use oxygen to assist in cellular respiration. This converts stored energy into a usable form. The first stage of aerobic cellular respiration, glycolysis, can be performed without oxygen.

that's all

komal2004: I am mark you brainliest or not?
devil9311: the glucose and oxygen reacts together in the cells to produce carbon dioxide and water.
rutunalatwadkapcfbj3: in the cytoplasm yes
devil9311: yes..

Cells play the most important role in Respiration. It is the mitochondria in the cell where the cellular Respiration takes place. It uses up ATP's and gives back Co2 which is then transported back to the Lungs via capillaries.

komal2004: I am not able to understand your answer
rutunalatwadkapcfbj3: Cell is tbe place where Respiration takes place dear. Lungs are just there for tbe exchan of gases, but the actual Respiration, that is, breakdown of glucose to form Carbon dioxide and Water takes place in Cell. what i was saying is, that Respiration is a mixture of two reactions happening in different places. One is breakdown of Glucose to give carbon dioxide and a lot of energy. This will happen in cytoplasm of a cell.
rutunalatwadkapcfbj3: then there is the other half of the process, which takes place in Mitochondria. Where the energy that was prepared earlier ( some of it) is used and O2 is used. there is a whole lot of reaction, you don't wanna know that. but the result we get is water. so that leaves us with two by products, Water and CO2. Hence completing tbe process of Respiration. now that co2 will be sent back to lungs by veins( the other blood vessels)
rutunalatwadkapcfbj3: I hope this explains my answer
