Given:

The temperature of the gas is increased by the factor 4

To Find:

The effect on the r.m.s velocity of the gas molecules

Explanation:

The V(rms) ∝ √T

       V(rms) ∝ 1/√M

∴ V(rms) = k√T

        If  T = 4T'

    then, V(rms) = k√4T'

              V(rms) = 2k√T'

∴ V(rms) will be doubled

Answer- V(rms) will be doubled.
