what would be the reading of the ammeter and voltmeter when key is closed?

Reading of ammeter....

R = R1 + R2
= 1+2
= 3 ohm
now...
I = V/R
=3/3
=1A.

Reading of volmeter......
IR = 1 * 2
=2v.

The current is measured using an instrument called an ammeter .its units is the ampres metres hence its used to measure small currents

The reading on an ammeter is dictated by the amount of current flowing that causes a deflection of the magnetic needle and this is created by the intensity of the magnetic field
