Imagine what would happen if there were no decomposers. Wastes and the remains of dead organisms would pile up and the nutrients within the waste and dead organisms would not be released back into the ecosystem. Producers would not have enough nutrients. ... Essentially, many organisms could not exist.
Hope this helps....

Answer:
After the death of an apex consumer, the energy trapped in them is transferred to plants which are primary producers.
Explanation:
- After an apex consumer dies, it decomposes releasing the energy to plants as nutrients.
- This nutrients are fed on by plants which then form and store energy that shall again continue the cycle.
- Thereby, the energy taped in apex consumers is released to the cycle in that process.
